'Antonio Carlos Jobim' (born 'Antonio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim', January 25, 1927 - December 8, 1994), also called 'Tom Jobim', was a Brazilian composer, arranger, singer, pianist and one of the greatest legends of bossa nova. Antonio Carlos Jobim's compositions, performed by Joćo Gilberto, gave birth to the genre in the early 1960's.
His roots were planted firmly in the works of Pixinguinha, a legendary musician and composer that started in the 1930's the development of modern Brazilian music. Later, he was influenced for the music of French composer Claude Debussy and the records of jazz musicians like Chet Baker, Barney Kessel, Gerry Mulligan and Claude Thornhill. |
