Bob Crosby, in his younger years was overshadowed by his older brother, Bing Crosby. He had a pleasant voice and was able to achieve a modest success. Just before the swing era, Bob Crosby sang with Anson Weeks followed by joining the band led by Jimmy Dorsey and Tommy Dorsey. The musicians who had left the band of Ben Pollock formed a co-operative and invited Bob Crosby to be their front man. The band was very popular and was one of the swing era's liveliest bands. The musicians in the band were Billy Butterfield and Yank Lawson, trumpets, Eddie Miller and Irving Fazola, saxophonists, Bob Zurke, Hilton 'Nappy' Lamere, Bob Haggart and Ray Bauduc rhythm section.
