| Dave McKenna was playing piano with Boots Mussulli's band by his late teens in and around the Boston area. By 1949 he had joined Charlie Ventura, then worked with Woody Herman before being drafted during the Korean War. From the early 1950's to the late 1960's, McKenna played mostly with small groups. He played with major artists including Gene Krupa, Stan Getz and Zoot Sims. He played long residences at bars and restaurants in the Boston areas from the late 1960's to the late 1970's. |
