What kind of fungus is this? (Picture)?
What kind of fungus is this? It was large, at least a foot across, and it was soft, with spongy pores on the underside. North Carolina, Cherokee National Forest.

Well Harshal I’ll probably have to give you best answer because I’m pretty sure no one else is going to know,. I have to admit, I was hoping for more detail than “polypore” or “shelf fungus” so I was hoping for at least some random guesses at a species name. The closest things I can find are Phellinus gilvus or cerrena unicolor. But I do appreciate you answering, so thank you
