This is a great chance to hear Bobby McFerrin bring his unique voice to some jazz standards, and to hear Chick Corea perform harmonic magic while uncluttered and unrestricted by bass and drums (check out his solo in 'Round Midnight!). Corea is by far the superior of the two, although the electric spontaneity that McFerrin contributes inspires Corea to his greatest duo acoustic work since Gary Burton or Herbie Hancock (15 years). If you like both artists, this album is an absolute MUST. If you only like one of the two, this album will make you like the other after just a few listenings. |
