Having been loaned the CD by a friend, I placed my order for a copy whilst it was still playing on the computer's CD.I'm one of those people who believed that true, classic jazz ended with the last Davis/Coltrane sessions. Note the past tense there! Never one to allow the facts to get in the way of a good prejudice where jazz is concerned, it was only the fact the CD was loaned to me by a trusted friend that good sense was allowed to prevail and I experienced a musical treat that will probably see me to the grave with a contented smile on my face. Classic 60's tracks mix with two of Marsalis' own and two of Art Blakey's (on drums here) to make for a superb listening experience at a price that gobsmacked me. If you can't afford to buy it, borrow or steal it! |
